Friday Stuff

The LJ World decries the Club for Growth ads.

And under the heading, "The Shocking Truth, Boyda's Still Liberal"

According to West Neanderthal Drive, Boyda voted against free speech yesterday. Surprise, surprise, Boyda joined the liberal wing of the Democrat party and voted in support of the so-called "fairness doctrine." Without going into a long explanation here, the "fairness doctrine" would effectively shut down talk radio as we now know it and give the power of what news we hear entirely back to the mainstream (i.e. left-leaning) media.

And according to a press release sent out by the NRCC, Boyda voted against stopping the IRS from collecting any new taxes passed by the Democrat majority. If you remember, in response to Jim Ryun's ads saying Boyda supported tax increases, she said "I'm not going to raise your taxes." So far, all her votes have gone in favor of raising taxes.

Isn't it interesting that people were on this blog clamoring for the authors to quit focusing on the primary race and go back to swiping at Boyda, but once the blog did, people stopped commenting. It's funny how we Republicans enjoy taking pot shots at each other.

That's why Boyda will win again in 08. Ryun will win over a beat up Jenkins and some of her voters will vote for Boyda keeping her in office. Republicans in KS are pretty much finished. Once Roberts and Brownback (or "Switchback" after his immigration vote) leave office, Tihart will be the only Republican left in office. Parkinson will be governor and Morrison will continue to be AG. Sec of State and Insurance Commish will go to Dem's as well. In a three party system Dems will finish what they started in 06.

Jerry Moran? I know he doesn't have much backbone as a partisan Republican, but he is a Republican.

I have a little more faith than the last poster in that I believe there will be some Republican candidates with crossover appeal who will prevent Democrat sweeps. But, it is sad that Republicans can't be more unified.

On the KS political blogs, we fail to recognize the real problem with GOP - Bush & Iraq.

It's true that the split in the party has done great damage. But that's insider stuff that most voters don't understand. To most voters, Republican = Bush and Bush = Iraq. So long as Bush is less than 30% approval and more than 75% say that Iraq was mistake, Republicans will get beat at all levels.

People in Topeka like to tell voters that they have nothing to do with DC and Bush. But, in the minds of voters, the GOP is one single entity. When the guy on top is in the dumpster, everybody all the way down to county officeholders gets punished. Ask Democrats what Bill Clinton did to their party in 1994.

I agree with earlier poster. The Democrats will build and the Republicans will fall apart. We're seeing the end of the Republican era.

Until the Democrats screw up, which they will.

I didn't realize Nancy Boyda voted for the Fairness Doctrine. How could any Republican vote for someone who does this?

Democrats can't win if they tell the truth about who they are and what they'll do, so they lie about themselves and their opponents. (Snoop Dog Kline is going through your medical records!) If we had an honest press in this state, Sebelius and her filth wouldn't be nearly as successful.

A lot of the Republicans are just as bad as Boyda when it comes to telling the truth. Half truths are still half lies no matter how you dress them up.

Bush did cost the Republicans the majorities in Congress, however, the selection of a nominee all Republicans can support is the key in '08. If you're looking in the middle of the Republican Party, you've got McCain, Romney and Fred Thompson - Giuliani is too liberal for the conservatives and everyone to the right of Thompson is too conservative for the moderates. And, McCain is probably out of the mix due to his stand on immigration. If Republicans nominate a candidate that won't split the party and who isn't tied directly to Iraq, they have hope. The biggest reason why is that the Democrats haven't a clue. They have no ideas, they've gotten nothing done and the American public is still a little scared of the leftist wing of the party who, for the most part, is running things. And, they are about to nominate one of three people, Obama, who is not only liberal but is still, unfortunately, going to have to overcome his race in some ares of the country, Hillary who has the highest negatives of any candidate for President, and John Edwards who is the most liberal of all. Yes, Republicans would be in really big trouble but for the Democrats.

P.S. I think Jenkins will drop out before the filing deadline.

What makes you think that Jenkins will drop out? I think that she can win. There is so much dirt on Jim Ryun floating around that he'll never recover as candidate. Ryun got a little too cozy with DC interests, and it's going to ruin his chances.

Umm...Nancy Boyda (Democrat, Kansas)didn't join the liberal wing of the Democratic Party. Nancy Boyda (Democrat, Kansas) has always been a liberal. Her vote on the Fairness Doctrine shows that she's not really all that different from Hugo "Who Smelt It, Dealt It" Chavez when it comes to the free marketplace of ideas.

OMG! Ryan and Jenkins both need to jump all over this stupid Boyda move. All the second district RINOS will be furious over what that doctrine would do to NPR!

Something I wonder about...

The Democrats have intertwined themselves with a guy in Wichita who injects poison into the hearts (at least most of the time -- sometimes he misses and ends up poisoning another part of the body, and the child lives in misery for a few years before finally dying) of viable babies, delivering the baby dead into a toilet, and then burning the baby in an incinerator. Most of the time this horrific procedure isn't legal, but the Democrats in power are doing whatever they can to protect this guy so he can continue doing this.

Why is MY side on the defensive???

Where do you get "most of the time this horrific procedure isn't legal"? Last I checked, abortion was legal in Kansas. Late term abortion is legal based on mental health considerations.

The prolifers hate to acknowledge this fact. Even when the prolifers have had Speakers and controlled party, they still can't change state law. The prolife movement is basically all bark and no bite.

I think the conservatives have to recognize three facts: (1) prolife position isn't as popular or mainstream as you like to think, (2) prolife leadership in KS sucks, your leaders usually do more damage than good, (3) you've been played by the GOP establishment who never had any intention of fulfilling your policy goals.

You're slanderous posts have been sent to authorities for analysis.
Brave words from an anonymous poster who can't distinguish between "your" and "you're".

Anonymous said...

It is not slander when it is the truth. Abortion is 90% of the problem with the KS GOP, if foks would just accept some different viewpoints that are a little left of them the Republican party would hold all the elected positions in the state. When we make Republican politics about abortion we lose and lose big every single time. Parkinson and Morrison could have won as Republicans, but the prolifers chased them out of the party. Trying to do the same to Jenkins and Prager and others that aren't prolife enough.

Anonymous said...

The prolifers need to start their own party. They have a single-issue agenda which isn't conducive to coalition building. Within the GOP all they're going to do is continue to drive people away.

They should start a third party. They wouldn't have anywhere near a majority, but they could have enormous impact on tight races.

Anonymous said...

The way its going, conservatives will turn the GOP into a prolife third party. If Bloomberg runs for Prez and a wacko like Bronwback or Huckabee gets nominated, I could see Republican reduced to third party status.

Also, the person who keeps making threats about contacting "authorities for analysis" needs to go away. It's stupid and annoying.

For some reason, the conservatives cannot take even the slightest criticism.

It's not the conservatives who want the Fairness Doctrine back.
