In a section titled "Barfin' Boyda", Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call recounted a recent incident in Nancy Boyda's office. Apparently Boyda, while meeting with a group of firefighters from Lawrence began to feel ill. Boyda, apparently unable to excuse herself from the meeting, "puked into a trash can while the firefighters and an aide looked on." Fortunately for Boyda, two of the firefighters were EMT's and stood ready to come to her "vomitorious rescue" according to the story.
The whole picture is kind of funny and reminds me of a trip the first President Bush made to Japan (where was the ambitious you tube video camera operator when we needed them?).
However, it turns out that the Capitol Hill physicians suggested Boyda go to the hospital "where she was diagnosed with gallstones." The stones will require "routine surgery."
In all seriousness, I wish Nancy good health and a speedy recovery when she has the surgery.
However, I must offer a thought to ponder on this story: why would you leak this to a newspaper? Either you have bad staff who thought it would be funny. Or, are you, or someone on your staff, trying to gain sympathy for routine gallstones?
[Update: 8:45am 3/20] The LJ World has posted the story here.
Dedicated to the proposition that Nancy Boyda is a one termer.
