Rumor Has It

Rumor has it Lynn Jenkins filed paperwork to run for Congress today. My source did not indicate whether or not it was FEC paperwork indicating she hit the $5,000 raised or spent within the last 30 days OR whether it was with the Sec. of State's office. I'm guessing it's the FEC Statement of Candidacy. Will see soon.

According to ksgopinsider, Jim Ryun raised $250,000 this quarter. I've heard others say he will report $250,000 on hand. Either way, look for Ryun to be well ahead of Jenkins when the reports come out April 15th.

The real test will be the second quarter fundraising numbers. . .

This is very exciting news. I think the GOP in the 2nd district needs a new face. Lynn would be a great candidate and the most likely to bounce boyda!

Lynn is a good candidate but she will have a tough time raising enough money to beat Ryun. Steve Cloud is filling her head full of false hope.

The only way Ryun can win is to bring back Michelle Butler. She is well connected in Kansas GOP circles and has a smart head for politics.

Michelle Butler is nice, but she is a bureaucrat at heart. She's not known for going the extra mile and has rubbed some people the wrong way. Plus, wasn't she in charge of the KS House recruiting effort and Clay's bid for Speaker - two things that didn't turn out so well. She would be a good Communications Director for him, but not a political brain.

Isn't that the same Steve Cloud who is on Lynn Jenkins' finance committee? The same Steve Cloud who stole the KS GOP donor list and mailed a letter asking GOP donors to stop giving to the KS GOP and start giving to KTRM?
That's a winning combination.

Yes, that's the Steve Cloud she's listening too. The same guy who was the puppetmaster behind Dennis Jones and Scott Poor's run at the state party. What a joke that was.

Lynn is our best candidate to take out Boyda. Exciting!

Ryun better surround himself with more competent campaign staff than he had last time. His last campaign manager couldn't carry his own water. He was a walking, breathing contradiction.

Yeah, I don't think even Ryun would disagree with you on that. Both his campaign manager and his chief of staff needed to go. I wonder if we're going to see the same old thing with Ryun or a totally different candidate.

Ryun's campaign manager wasn't good, that's true, but the rest of his staff wasn't the problem. Ryun was quoted in the paper as saying he ran a lackluster campaign. To me, that sounds like the bigger leadership issue within his organization. It sounds like he's rolling up his sleeves and working hard this time around. IF so, he will be tough to beat.

Ryun was not engaged during the last campaign. Wasn't very active. And he didn't respond quickly or adequately to his opponent's attacks. Lynn Jenkins would not make that mistake.

I don't know how you can say that about Lynn Jenkins. She is not battle tested, so we don't know what she would do. Not defending Ryun here, but to say confidently Jenkins will respond will to attacks is ridiculous.

Ryun needs to keep his sons out of the campaign but needs to have his daughter involved. Saw her in one of his commercials. She is a BABE!

I agree....Jenkins will topple Ryun and will run a clean campaign. From there on, it's going to be a tough race between Jenkins and Boyda. Exciting times!

I like Lynn...always have, always will. But I feel the same about Ryun, and Lynn is just in over her head on this one. Ryun has the experience and the infrastructure that Lynn just can't overcome. And I think it may give Ryun just the warm-up it takes to trounce Pelosi...er, Boyda.

Ryun will have his hands full with Jenkins. She projects warmth and kindness and professionalism. Ryun will have to bring his "A" game to beat her and then hopefully win back some of the Republicans that put Boyda in office.
