Dedicated to the proposition that Nancy Boyda is a one termer.

Thursday Stuff

The Journal World is a little late to the part with its story on the Club for Growth ad. Almost nothing new of note with both sides trading charges and Jenkins defended her vote to increase taxes on fuel by saying it was ok because it funded a popular transportation program.

Today I also received Nancy Boyda's latest fundraising solicitation from a reader. In it, she calls herself a "moderate Kansas Democrat" and that she will continue to provide the "independent leadership" Kansans elected her to do. Most Kansans would agree, it's not moderate or independent to vote with the most liberal Speaker of the House ever 95% of the time.

The item the LJW should have wrote about was the fact that the property tax vote where CFG says Jenkins increased property taxes, actually did not increase property taxes at all. What she voted against was a bill that eliminated property taxes completely, which I would think even the most conservative Kansan realizes would not be feasible. No mention of the fact that she voted to decrease your vehicle tax by 50%. Anybody that knows how the legislature works knows that people put bills they know have no chance of passing in front of the body just so they can record that someone voted this way or that. The responsible legislatures see through this and vote the way they should. Yet they get beat up later when someone says they voted this way or that. If voters don't start supporting responsible legislators, then we will continue on the slippery slope we are on, where nothing ever gets done. Somebody has to govern.

Lynn Jenkins to Alan Cobb: "I voted for the governor's tax increases because David Kerr told me to." I would hardly call that governing. I would call that being a lackey.

Hi Alan, didn't know you frequented these blogs. Maybe that's what she wanted you to think. When will AFP start their adds for Boyda, opps I mean against Jenkins.

What about all the tax decreses she voted for, does anybody remember those?

If she wants to regain her credibility on the tax issue, she needs to put out a list of the taxes she voted to cut and and the taxes she refused to raise. I don't know why all the whining when a simple list would fix everything for her. Please, now!

It will be in the campaign add.

The Journal World was slow in the story because, as usual, Scott Rothschild had to clear it with the governor's office first.
