Boyda's DC Take

In addition to hiding cash contribution refunds, Nancy Boyda hit up 19 lobbyists for personal campaign contributions this past quarter. This should be viewed as highly unusual for someone who made a campaign out of saying Jim Ryun was too cozy with Washington lobbyists. Her total take from DC between PACs and lobbyists was $84,350 or 36% of her total. Last quarter, the DC income was 31%.

Doesn't seem too unusual-that happens in DC quite often.
But as someone who pledged not to do this, it's just another example of Boyda's hypocrisy.

Don't forget about Linda Daschle's donation to Nancy...

Boyda has truly become just another DC insider.

ok - first the cash donation wasn't hidden if its in her FEC report so... seriously get off the banality and focus on this other stuff which is much more important and unbelievably disappointing

Actually, she tried to hide the cash donation because she didn't list it as a contribution refund, but rather just in her disclosures, hoping a spot check by the FEC wouldn't red flag it. You clearly don't know about how the FEC works

Boyda got caught. No honesty in her bones.

Dude - no need to be rude - we're all on the same team here. I'm simply saying - can a contribution be refunded if it wasn't actually received? I'm looking on the FEC site and no where on here does it say how you must report it if you receive it and then turn around and give back the cash and accept a check instead. What I do see is a requirement that you "fix" a situation such as this within 30 days. But where does the FEC require that you put this on the filing form? under which line does this fall exactly? Because from what I understand is you have 30 days to refund the cash and get a check.

Well, I was motivated by these posts to figure if Ryan got any money from DC lobbyists and out of state PACs. He got contributions from 291 fat cats and former fellow congressmen. Of those, I couldn't find a dime that had come from Kansas except for Koch money and a two contributions from Tiahrt who got most of his money from the same sources - Out of state lobbyists and PACs. I found a single contribution to Ryun that found its way through the "Growth and Prosperity Fund," through the JEB Fund. Any Kansas dough? Not a single penny. Ryun in his last run got over half of his money from PACs, and in his career, 56%.

36% is very good for someone who lives and works in DC 5 days out of the week. Expecially when you stack it up with Jim Ryun, who seems to have forgotten where Kansas is.

You're missing the point. Boyda campaigned saying Ryun lost touch, that she would be independent, that she would focus her efforts on getting money from Kansas. Fact is, she is taking an ever increasing amount of money from DC lobbyists and PACs. She's going back on her word. The amount Ryun got from DC doesn't matter. Dennis Moore takes roughly half of his money from DC, but he didn't campaign on cleaning up Washington and staying independent. Boyda did, and she should be held accountable.

Boyda is proving to be increasing inept and dishonest. She is definitely cut straight from Pelosi's cloth.

except 64% of money from Kansas is quite independent, and very good, especially comparing it to other members of congress.

so, not even close to a majority of her contributions are from DC?

That's a refreshing change.

Someone, anyone, please take a look at her contributors. They are mostly from attorneys and those affiliated with unions. No thanks to a candidate like that.

i'm really pround of nancy for only taking 36% of her money from DC...i think it does show she's pretty dang independent....that's prolly better than most any other D or R in the House
