Things They Don't Want You to Know About their FEC Reports

I haven't had time yet to fully digest all the FEC reports that came in Friday evening through Sunday, however, I wanted to point out a few small items that the three candidates wouldn't want to use as press release headers from their reports.

Nancy Boyda

There is a substantial amount of her money from DC special interest PACs and DC lobbyists. 36% of her take was just from PACs and I'll be doing the math on the DC lobbyists later today. This runs counter to her claims of not wanting DC money.

Boyda also took a $400 cash contribution (a big FEC no-no) and had to return it. That one may red flag a fine for her from the FEC, we'll have to wait and see.

Lynn Jenkins

I saw no mention of the $101,231.75 loan Jenkins made to the campaign. That was fully 1/3rd of $300K she claimed to have raised last quarter. The money she actually raised comes out to $200,394. Also, in a brief look at Jenkins expenditures, there aren't any payments to the person who claimed to be her campaign manager. Maybe she's getting volunteer labor, or maybe he just agreed to a deferred compensation plan.

Jim Ryun

Ryun has an $85,000 debt for what was quite possibly the biggest prospecting direct mail fundraising piece of all time. That means his cash on hand is closer to $215,000.

why is there something sinister about the $400 Boyda returned? sounds like an innocent mistake

Innocent mistake? It's cash and Boyda has been running for Congress since 2004. She should know better. I think the limit is $100 in what you can take in cash. This is 4 times that amount.

if she gave it back....couldn't that mean some staffer took, realized they screwed up and corrected it?

The FEC will have to sort out the illegal acceptance of campaign cash. Sounds like a coverup to me.

it would be illegal if she kept the money. since she didn't...no dice.

I wonder if she has accepted other cash donations in exchange for political favors, or votes??

Actually, it is illegal to take the money in the first place. Giving it back doesn't erase the illegality.

Is she trading her votes for cash?

Anonymous said...

The bigger question is how many votes she has already traded for cash!

My guess is she's already pocketed a lot of cash.

why would Boyda pocket cash? isn't her husband a millionaire?

Perhaps she has a problem. Remember the rich chick from California that shoplifted all the time. It happens. And this woman doesn't seem to have many scrupples.

Someone needs to learn how to read FEC reports. Ryun has over$300k in the bank. It appears he raised $340k, spent in the neighborhood of $306k-which leaves over $300k in the bank. I wonder how many new names he added. And how many of those are Kansas names?

36% from PACs isn't bad, seeing as she works in DC for 5 days a week. Maybe you ought to find out Ryun's PACs, he supposedly doesn't live there anymore.

It looks for Jim Ryun has fewer than 50 Kansas donors.

From the number of times some of the out of state donors are sending in money they must be getting a fundraising letter begging for money to battle special interest groups everyother week.

Does Ned still do the fundraising?

Another thing Ryun doesn't want you to know: almost all of his money is from out of state. Almost all of Jenkins' money is from Kansas. That's a pretty good sign for Jenkins if you ask me. Some of the names on her contributions are pretty signifcant as well.
