Ryun Press Release

A national senior citizens group recognized Jim Ryun’s staunch record of supporting the elimination of the death tax through the presentation of the group’s Benjamin Franklin Award.

“60 Plus decided to present a Benjamin Franklin award to those who support repeal of this anti-farmer, anti-senior tax,” said 60 Plus Association President Jim Martin. “And former Congressman Jim Ryun has pledged to vote for death tax repeal if he’s re-elected U.S. Representative from Kansas.”

The 60 Plus Association is a non-partisan seniors advocacy group with a free enterprise, less government, less taxes approach to seniors issues. 60 Plus has made ending the death tax as one of its top priorities. Ryun voted for a repeal of the tax in 2005 and remains dedicated to pushing for a permanent repeal.

“I am honored and humbled to receive an award from such a distinguished group. We share the same principles of lowering taxes and reducing wasteful spending. I look forward to continue working for Kansas seniors in Congress,” stated Jim Ryun.

Martin referred to Ryun as a “fighter for the elderly” and concluded that “Jim Ryun knows a bad tax when he sees one and the death tax is a lousy tax…an unfair tax. Senior citizens know they can always count on Jim Ryun.”

According to the AARP, 60 Plus is a front group for Big Pharma and the Christian Right. http://www.aarp.org/bulletin/consumer/Articles/a2003-06-30-pullingstrings.html
Why doesn't this surprise me ...

Wow! This sure seemed like a nice honor until you read "the rest of the story" provided by the 12:18:00 poster. Does Ryun think Kansans are idiots? Jim: P-L-E-A-S-E...give it up. You should be ashamed of yourself.

The 60 Plus Association is an alternative organization to the AARP. While the 60 Plus is a conservative organization, it is far and away preferable to the liberal and bloated AARP organization.

Congratulations Jim Ryun! This is a worthy recognition!

An alternative program to AARP that doesn't support socialism? That's for me.

AARP=front group for socialized medicine. Thank goodness Ryun didn't get an award from them.
