This Is Not a Strategy for Winning in Iraq

From the Cap Journal, Nancy Boyda has pronounced her Iraq policy.

"I think the best we can do is redeploy our troops as responsibly as we can and hope the countries of the Middle East come together and make the transition as stable as possible," she said.

Nancy Boyda says the "best we can do" is pull our troops out and "hope the countries of the Middle East come together and make the transition as stable as possible."

Nancy Boyda clearly has zero understanding of the Middle East. The Middle East has warring versions of radical Islam and a unified hatred of Israel. The reason Iraq is so unstable today is that Iran and Syria are doing their very best to destabilize it. They are funding warring radical factions inside the country and providing them with weapons and explosives. They are battling to control it with their radical versions of Islam. If we announce we are pulling our troops out, Iraq will be relatively stable until our troops leave and then the civil war will escalate because both sides will want to control the lucrative oil reserves to fund their terrorist agenda. Bottom line, the countries in the region are never going to come together and make the transition stable. Only the Iraqis gaining control by pulling the moderates together for a coalition government and well-funded and well-trained security forces will bring any type of stability.

Boyda is now part of the liberal "quit at all costs" agenda (although, she's proven her opinion might change again if the political winds blows later). But, the only hope we have of giving Iraq and its natural resources to the people of Iraq is to show the resolve necessary to finish the job or at least try the new tougher U.S. strategy before giving up on it. An overwhelming majority of our troops would say this is the way to do "the best we can" Nancy.

I think it is becoming very clear Boyda is out of her league. It's one thing to be able to throw all kinds of mud at an incumbent and win in a wave election year, it's another to actually be a Congresswoman.

It's a difficult situation, at best. Though I count myself as one who wants those troops out of there, I recognize----as does Boyda----that there is no easy and probably no good solution here. This is truly a case of "the best we can do, is the best we can do." See a well=balanced article on the subject at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/03/07/AR2007030702605.html

You're using the words "well balanced" to describe a Washington Post article? I guess there's a first time for everything.

I guess we have a Boyda staffer on here-only a Dem would call the Washington Post "well balanced" or objective.
